Dan Quayle said presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has his full support and expects others in the party will follow suit, including House Speaker Paul Ryan. “I’ve been a Republican all my life, I’m going to support the nominee,” he said Thursday in an exclusive TODAY interview. “I predict that most people in my position, or people that have been in the Republican Party in a long time, will rally around the nominee.”
“I totally misjudged his ability to win. But for somebody that has really no experience in politics to be able to start off and to win with a strong field and not even go to the convention — that he is the presumptive nominee a month before we have our final primaries — is quite remarkable,” Quayle said. “He’s a winner so I’m sure he’ll figure it out.”
Quayle also told CNBC;
Calling 2016 the “year of the outsider,” former Vice President Dan Quayle told CNBC on Thursday that Donald Trump can beat Hillary Clinton.
“He knows how to win,” Quayle, who’s backing Trump, said in a “Squawk Box” interview. “He knocked off 16 Republicans and a lot of them were really good, solid people and would have been good presidents.”
